recycle-freecycle

I just joined a local yahoo group here in Geelong. There are freecycle groups all over the world, go here to see if they have one close to you.

What is freecycle? This is from their sight....

"The Freecycle Network™ is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free. To sign up, find your community by clicking on the region on the left. You may then go directly to your local group by clicking on "Go To" or you may immediately joining by clicking on "Join." It will generate an automatic e-mail which, when sent, will sign you up for the local group and send you a response with instructions on how it works. Can't find a group near you? You might want to consider starting one (click on "Start a Group" for instructions). Have fun!

The Freecycle Network was started in May 2003 to promote waste reduction in Tucson's downtown and help save desert landscape from being taken over by landfills. The Network provides individuals and non-profits an electronic forum to "recycle" unwanted items. One person's trash can truly be another's treasure!"

So basically you just post about items you want to get rid of and then let people come get them if they want them. You can also post wanted ads once you start giving other things away.

I joined to see what is out there, and to possibly post a few things. Anyone want a burnt couch? :-)

It's a really good idea. I joined a while ago here in Virginia. But you can get inundated in emails from the group.

yeah I thought about that. I decided just to get the daily digest so that I only get one e-mail a day.

*smile* ok thats kinda nerdy... oh well. :-P

Well how's Adele doing? Sorry we didn't get to catch up with you guys while we were in Geelong, i would have liked to, but um, yeah, things got complecated ( i think you know) and yes, we had to leave Geelong in about (i kid you not) 10 minutes! It was a tragic-unbelivible- heartbreaking ending to such a good week. *sigh* But God is good, and His grace is sufficent for us. We are trusting in Him.

Well hope all ya'lls are doin' just fine up there in GEE-long. Take care now ya hear. :-j

love,
~Me

GigoIt.com is a improvement over Freecycle where free items are listed. It has a lot of advantages over Freecycle like pictures and search and it's easier for beginners to pick up.There are lots of advanced features too, like RSS, a Google Earth layer, and gmail-style conversation views. I hope you check it out.
