So Gore's movie "An Inconvenient Truth" won an Oscar the other night. All I can say is that it really disgusts me.
Here is an interesting article sent by a friend. The article gives stats on Gore's own power and gas usage for his Tennessee home. Now I can't say how accurate this information is. For all I know the reporter could be using flashy fonts to distract us from the not quite true "facts" being represented in the article. If that is the case maybe Gore should pass the Oscar on to them. After all shouldn't he acknowledge others who strive to do what he has done?
I went on to the World Blog site, this is what they had to say....
"Just days after Al Gore took home an Oscar for his film "An Inconvenient Truth," the Tennessee Center for Policy Research is calling the former vice president a hypocrite for consuming too much energy at his Belle Meade home. According to the Nashville Electric Service, Gore’s 10,000-square-foot mansion consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year. “As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson. While Gore's energy use seems extravagant, it must also be noted that Gore has purchased green power and is in the midst of a home renovation project that includes having solar panels installed. Kalee Krider, a spokeswoman for Gore, says groups like the Tennessee Center for Policy Research need to look at the big picture. But still, shouldn't Gore's present energy consumption raise questions?"
I will say that I need to watch the movie just to see where the holes are and so I know what his argument is. I think we might see if the young adults here at church want to come over and watch and then have a discussion. When I see it I will let you all know what I think. What I do know now is that God gave us this earth to live on and therefore we need to be the best stewards we can possibly be.
If you have seen the movie, let me know what you think about it.
