Daydreaming

As some of you might know I am a mustang lover. Thanks to my husband I am also a mustang owner. We own a 1968 silver coupe. It is at Brandon's parent's house, I miss driving it so very much.

So next year Ford is releasing the new 2010 Mustang. To celebrate they are asking people to submit their 'stang stories. Of course a celebration is nothing without a little competition and a prize. The prize they are offering up is a 2010 Mustang.

Brandon and I both decided to submit stories about our car, we have quite a few, in hopes that we might win. Now I have never won anything in my life and I seriously doubt it will start with a mustang. Still, it was fun thinking about the car and all the good stories we have with it.

Here is the story I submitted and then the poem (my husband had to one up me :-) ) B submitted. We will find out in a few weeks whether or not either or us wins.

My Story ( Had to be 250 characters or less)

Speeding Ticket and Easter Egg

The first time I drove a Mustang was the day I got engaged to my husband. He knew I loved them so as a surprise he picked me up in his friends ‘67 coupe. Before heading to dinner we went for a drive. I was behind the wheel barely able to contain my excitement. My boyfriend cautioned me to go easy on the pedal, but alas it was to no avail. Suddenly there were flashing lights and a siren. I received a hefty speeding ticket, we had dinner, got engaged and then went back to his dorm room where our family members were waiting. My dad asked if I had anything to show them? "Yeah," I replied, "a $175 speeding ticket, oh and a ring."

After that drive my fingers were forever itchy. Now I knew what it was like to drive one, to feel it under my feet. I wasn't going to forget.

A year later I had enough and told my husband I was desperate to buy one, could we please? He smiled and said we would talk about it later. The next day we went to his parents for Easter. My husband's dad enjoys putting together Easter egg hunts every year and today was no exception. I started out on my hunt, with my last clue taking me to the garage. I walked inside and there was a beautiful silver ‘68 coupe with an Easter basket on top. Within an egg were keys, my keys.

The Engagement

On a cold November night a girl and a boy went driving
in a borrowed '64 Mustang coupe he had procured while conniving
to woo this girl to be his bride
for he wanted her to be ever by his side.
You see the car was her favorite and driving it a dream come true
with a five-speed tranny and paint of metallic blue.
The girl was at the wheel, “slow down”, he said,
but alas her foot is made of lead.
Red and blue lights were soon flashing,
for the police officer had caught us dashing,
“I clocked you at eighty-five in a fifty zone”,
said the man in blue as his flashlight shone,
“Oh great”, thought the boy, “what a start to the night”, “
How can I now pop the question so that things turn out right?”
He needn't have worried, the magic of the Mustang was not lost,
for it would take more than a speeding ticket (he would shoulder the cost),
to put a damper on the delight that evening would bring,
when at the end he presented her with a ring.
“Yes!” she said, with a smile and a tear,
“I do agree to be your wife dear.”
This story is now ended but it is not the last by far
of many a tale involving the boy, the girl and a classic Mustang car.

Those are both really good stories! I didn't know about the engagement story, though I'd heard about how you got your current Mustang.
Anyways, I hope that one of you wins! Do you guys like the new Mustang design - personally, I like the mesh between old and new (is the '10 different than the current design?).

God bless,
-Al
